Melton Mustafa Jr. and Jesse Jones Jr.: A Legacy of Jazz, A Night to Remember.
Melton Mustafa Jr., a dynamic trumpeter, educator, and producer, brings his deep musical heritage and passion for jazz to every performance. Inspired by his father, jazz icon Melton Mustafa Sr., and his uncle, the legendary saxophonist Jesse Jones Jr., Melton has carved his own path in the jazz world. His career includes performances alongside artists like Lalah Hathaway and Wycliffe Gordon, and he has led international tours with the Ray Charles Band. As the founder of the Melton Mustafa Jazz Festival and an award-winning educator, Melton’s influence extends far beyond the stage, touching the lives of aspiring musicians throughout South Florida.
Jesse Jones Jr., a master saxophonist and vibrant figure in Miami’s jazz scene, is renowned for his dynamic stage presence and uplifting performances. With a career spanning from his early days in the U.S. Navy Show Band to leading his own quartet, Jesse has shared the stage with jazz greats like Dexter Gordon and Dee Dee Bridgewater. His technical mastery and unique blend of intricate arrangements and charismatic scat singing create an electrifying experience for audiences. At the South Beach Jazz Festival, the uncle-nephew duo will unite their talents, offering a soulful and high-energy showcase of jazz excellence.
This show is part of an all-star jazz line-up on Lincoln Road (1100 Lincoln Road). Do not miss the South Beach Jazz Festival’s “Jazz Hits the Road,” a beautiful day of jazz music.
