Chefs at Mason Eatery - a new hotspot in Midtown Miami - just might be the culinary version of mad scientists. Spearheaded by Chef Brian Nasajon, who also created Wynwood favorite Beaker & Gray, they're gleefully dishing out breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings - all made from scratch.
The result? Tempting fare like Frito Mixto, with calamari, red shrimp and lemon coriander; Oxtail Pot Pie; and Pastrami Hash, with Yukon gold potatoes, garlic mayo and a fried egg.
And they're serving it with a sense of humor as evidenced by a recent Facebook post: "If you can combine wine and dinner, the new word is winner."
Diners can also create their own charcuterie board with made-in-house cured meats, cheeses, salads and spreads, such as Maple Ham, Chicken Salad, Pork Rillette and Garlic Cream Cheese (they're also available for takeout). Appetizers include Avocado Toast, with red crab and hollandaise, and Creamed Corn, with red shrimp and cornbread crumble.
Looking for an inventive Happy Hour? You'll find it here, Monday through Friday from 4-6 p.m. and Sunday through Thursday from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. with drink and food specials galore. Guests enjoy everything from potato latkes to calamari.
We think it's imperative to finish every meal with a sweet treat - and we're grateful that Pastry Chef John Maieli whips up luscious cookies and dessert jars daily.
