"Everyone eats and drinks; yet only a few appreciate the taste of food."
That quote from Confucius figures prominently on Hai House's website. But the new Palm Beach restaurant no doubt wants to change that adage.
Helmed by award-winning Chef James Strine, the Worth Avenue eatery features authentic Asian cuisine in a refined setting.
"I am thrilled for the opportunity to bring a mix of classic and modern interpretations of Chinese food to Palm Beach," says Chef Strine, the former executive chef at Buccan and Grato, according to a press release. "And bringing it here to Worth Avenue in this elegant setting is the perfect way for guests to enjoy the culinary experience we've created."
Located on the second floor of The Esplanade, the interior features custom wallpaper and vintage chinoiserie cabinets, which help provide a cozy yet sophisticated ambiance.
Guests begin their dining experience with complimentary tea service and crispy noodles, which they can pair with authentic Chinese beer. Highlights for sharable options include Salt & Pepper Squid, with fried garlic and ginger; the Scallion Pancake; and various dim sum choices, including Steamed Shrimp & Pork Shumai. The Forbidden Fried Rice - featuring black rice, edamame, bok choy and tofu - is a must.
Traditionalists can also enjoy American favorites like General Tso's; Moo Shu; and Peking Duck, served with steamed buns and classic accoutrements. Vegetarian options include choices like Cantonese Eggplant.
Take out and complimentary delivery service are also available.
