Forget all your expectations of Middle Eastern food when you enter Abbale Telavivian Kitchen in Miami Beach.
The eatery, located in a charming house in South of Fifth, the creation of hospitality entrepreneurs Omer Horev and Sam Gorenstein, opened in March and recently added dinner service.
“Opening Abbale has been an incredible experience for both of us, and we’re humbled by how well we’ve been received right from day one,” says Chef Gorenstein.
“We’ve added a number of vegetable dishes, starters and salads and grilled fish and meat dishes, making Abbale a comfortable place for vegetarians and omnivores alike.”
The duo want to ensure that diners are offered “healthy, fresh plates that showcase the melting pot of flavors found throughout the Middle East, North Africa and Europe.”
Some of the menu items: Kale & Avocado Salad with shaved fennel, spiced-candied walnuts, grapefruit, toasted sesame and date-honey vinaigrette; Charred Baby Cauliflower laced with fresh tomato, tahini, herbs, sumac; Local Fish Ceviche with harissa, leche de tigre, pomegranate, avocado, red onion, cilantro, jalapeno and pita crisp; and Grilled Lamb Chops accompanied by rosemary, roasted tomatoes and arugula salad.
For dessert: Knafeh, made with shredded crunchy filo, Bulgarian feta, orange blossom syrup and pistachio.
