South Florida’s Gioia Hospitality team, local co-owner of Michelin Guide-recommended Fiola Miami, has opened Daniel’s, A Florida Steakhouse in Fort Lauderdale. The restaurant has taken over the former space of Canyon, which closed last August after more than 25 years.
Thomas Angelo, founder of Gioia Hospitality Group, teamed up with his daughter Kassidy Angelo on the project. He has called Fort Lauderdale home for more than a quarter of a century.
“I raised my family here, and now I get to share a piece of that with the community by creating a steakhouse that truly feels like home,” he says.
The menu features freshly sourced ingredients from around the Sunshine State. Appetizers include Hamachi Crudo & Strawberries, made with local produce. The Wagyu & Pearls is plated with Arrowhead Beef Wagyu Tartare, while the Serenoa Bay Skipper Sweet Oysters is served with a Passion Fruit Mignonette.
The main menu features Lake Meadow Naturals Half Roasted Chicken with Black Truffle Stuffing, Preserved Lemon Butter and Chicken Jus and Florida Grass Fed Providence Cattle Bavette.
There’s a full wine and cocktail menu along with a Florida-made lager and IPA.
And what Florida meal would be complete without a classic homemade Key Lime Pie? Here they make it with Graham Cracker Crust, Sweet Key Lime Custard, Italian Meringue and Passion Fruit Purée.
Daniel’s, A Florida Steakhouse is located at 620 S. Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale. For more information, visit danielssteak.com.
