The Miami Design District has a new hotspot to enjoy Italian fare.
Welcome Contessa, a two-story restaurant open for lunch and dinner. The eatery, an outpost of the original concept on the rooftop of The Newbury Boston, was inspired by the old-world sophistication of Northern Italy’s iconic villas and estates.
“Contessa Miami channels the singular sense of refinement and pleasure of those Northern Italian meals we wish could go on forever, right in the heart of the Magic City. I can’t think of a more perfect location to bring this restaurant to life, and to share with the people of Miami a menu dedicated to a rich and elegant region we’ve long hoped to celebrate,” MFG co-founder Mario Carbone notes in a press release.
The menu includes antipasti such as Carpaccio of Chianina Beef, Octopus Agrodolce con Peperone, Squash Carpaccio and prosciutto and artisanal Italian products. Other offerings: signature pizzas, pastas like Spicy Lobster Capellini, Tortellini en Brodo, Rigatoni Carbonara, Fusilli Genovese and Garganelli Verdi Bolognese.
Dishes include Gamberoni Al Forno con Fagioli, Veal Milanese and a 40-ounce Dry-Aged Bistecca Fiorentina. End on a sweet note with gelati made in-house or pistachio, amaretti or gianduja chocolate cakes.
An extensive wine list, with a special focus on Nebbiolo-based wines from Barolo, Barbaresco, Alte-Piedmont and Lombardy, and a cocktail program “sourced from recipes that date back to the 1920s updated for today’s modern diner” (including the Spritz, Bellini and Martini) round out the experience.
