Savory. Sweet. Sultry. That’s what you’ll experience at Sala’o Cuban Restaurant & Bar’s new alfresco Sunday brunch.
The Little Havana restaurant’s patio is the scene for the new offerings, including seafood choices like Coctel De Camarones (shrimp cocktail); Fresh Oysters; Crudito de Salmon (salmon crudo); and Huevos Enedictos, Cuban-style eggs benedict with Creole shrimp stew, corn, petit poi (green peas) and sweet-plantain hollandaise sauce. For those with a heartier appetite: The Hangover Remedy, featuring steak, papa con trufa (truffle fries) and eggs, should do the trick.
Libations abound, such as the signature Bloody Mary, comprising a house-made mix, vodka, spicy salt, honey-glazed pork belly, rosemary and celery foam; a selection of French sparkling wine; and build-your-own mimosas, bellinis, rossinis (sparkling wine with strawberry) and manginis (sparkling wine with mango).
The restaurant pays homage to writer Ernest Hemingway, who spent many years in Cuba. The name Sala’o comes from his novel “The Old Man and The Sea.”
