Enjoying a quality meal overlooking the Atlantic Ocean never gets old.
This is especially true at Malibu Farm Miami Beach, a bright and airy outpost of Helene Henderson's California concept within the Eden Roc Miami Beach Resort. The venue puts a fresh, upscale spin on farm-to-table cuisine, utilizing organic and locally sourced ingredients.
Start with the Malibu Blue Nachos, comprising the perfect balance of black beans, queso sauce, salsa fresca and sour cream, as well as the Chicken Broccoli Quesadillas, replete with spicy aioli. For a refreshingly different salad, opt for the Burrata Fruit, with arugula, burrata, seasonal fruit, pomegranate, sesame seed brittle and maple balsamic.
Vegans and vegetarians are in luck - there are some excellent choices on the menu. The Vegetable Paella is made with seasonal vegetables, tofu and artichoke, served on a bed of saffron cous cous, while the Vegan Coconut and Tofu features seasonal vegetables over quinoa rice with coconut sauce.
I could rave for days about the Miso Poached Shrimp: a generous portion of shrimp bathed in miso tahini dressing, with maitake mushrooms, farro, sweet peppers and ginger. Another winner is the Soy Ginger Steak, served with beet spaghetti and arugula. A tantalizing side to pair with these entrées is the smoky Charred Broccolini, with pickled chili and rosemary aioli.
Several menu selections are served family style, including the Whole Lobster, with charred corn and butter; the Whole Fish, with coconut curry, shaved fennel and arugula; the Dry Aged Ribeye, with crispy baby potatoes, charred broccolini and rosemary aioli; and either a whole or a half Organic Roasted Chicken, with potatoes, herbs, Brussels sprouts, tomato and shallots.
It's difficult to resist an artfully prepared pizza, and your resolve may be particularly weak at Malibu Farm. Indulge in the Corn Pizza, topped with barbecued chicken, crème fraîche, red onion, pepper jack cheese and cilantro. Or feel slightly less devilish with the Cauliflower Crust Pizza, topped with mozzarella, heirloom tomatoes, pesto, arugula and roasted cauliflower.
Finish with a light-as-air meringue and some homemade ice cream, and you're sure to be California dreamin' about your next visit to Malibu Farm. O
