Marc Price, 55, a New Jersey native and Californian resident since the age of 12, credits his father, Al Bernie, a respected comedian and TV host, for introducing him into the entertainment business. He recalls hanging out with iconic celebrities like George Burns and Joey Bishop and watching the greatest stars perform on stage before he was even 10 years old.
When he was 14, he landed the role of ‘Skippy’ in the ‘80s sitcom “Family Ties.” Price played a clumsy boy close to Alex P. Keaton (Michael J. Fox) who often got himself in trouble. Although only a small part, Price thinks of it as “a hard experience to top” and, without a doubt, what paved his way to a successful comedic career. “Everyone was so good at what they did. It was the ultimate comedy college,” he says.
Since then, he has acted in movies such as 1986’s “Trick or Treat” and 1991’s “Killer Tomatoes Eat France,” worked as a producer, including for “Green Collar Comedy,” collaborated with networks like E! and Disney Channel and honed his skill as a stand-up comedian performing alongside comedy pros Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld.
“By the time I was 15, I was hanging out with guys like Sam Kinison and Jim Carrey,” he says. The result, “an unusual comedy stew, if you will, that’s my show.”
On Jan. 26 and 27, fans can see Price at the Boca Black Box’s newest showroom, Boca 2.0. As a colleague and close friend of Fox, Price has supported the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which works toward finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease, throughout his career. For his upcoming Boca shows, 100% of merchandise sales will be donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
“Great things start from the top down!” Price says. “This is an organization with Michael’s name on it and Michael’s soul invested into it. He has only the finest people working with him, and they’ve had exciting breakthroughs in their research.”
Price says he’s looking forward to performing in Boca. “My sister and her sons (my super cool nephews) live nearby, so it’s a bonus we get to hang out.”
