If you find yourself scratching your head looking for a new, socially distanced, outdoor activity to keep you and the family entertained during the pandemic, look no further than Mizner Bark.
And yes, you read that right – cleverly named Mizner Bark, this dog park is cute from the get-go.
Located off of North Military Trail, just south of Spanish River Blvd., on Banyan Trail, Mizner Bark is a spacious, grassy place to let Fido roam free and get some of that pent-up energy out. However, this park isn’t just good for the pups. With paved sidewalks throughout the fenced-in enclosures, it also serves as an exciting, entertaining space to walk around and get some exercise while your furballs run and play. “It’s not just our dogs who benefit from the dog park,” a spokesperson for Mizner Bark explains. “Dog owners have the opportunity to recreate with their fur babies, and for many that involves getting outside in the fresh air and engaging in some physical activity.”
During my own trips to the park, I can see how Mizner Bark serves as a gathering place for people with similar interests. It’s a great, and very safe, place to socialize and make new friends while remaining safely distanced behind protective face masks. During a time when it’s so difficult to engage in safe social activities, Mizner Bark offers a safe way to get out in the fresh air and engage in the community while keeping safety a priority.
The park is separated into four enclosures appropriately sized for small, medium and large dogs with an additional space with no size restriction so that owners with different breeds don’t need to separate their pets into different enclosures. Each day, multiple times a day, the park is serviced, trash is emptied, debris is cleaned up, dog bag stations are refilled, and holes are filled – all making this experience an extremely cleanly and enjoyable one. In addition, “only environmentally safe and organic herbicides and insecticides are applied to the site,” a spokesperson explains. “These pesticides are safe for people, pets and the environment.” This serves as a comforting reminder that your dog will be safe during the visit.
Whether you’re looking for a new way to start your mornings, a little bit of weekend entertainment or a daily excuse to get out of the house, stop by Mizner Bark for a guaranteed good time. Permits, which are required for access and parking in the lot, can be purchased at Boca Raton Community Center, Sugar Sand Park, and James A. Rutherford Community Center Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
