For the 17th year running, the YMCA of South Palm Beach County will host its Inspiration Breakfast, at Office Depot Global Headquarters in Boca Raton on March 6 at 7:30 a.m.
The highlight of the event – which is the organization’s largest fundraiser – will be a keynote speech by five-time Olympic swimmer and 12-time medalist Dara Torres. Proceeds will benefit the Y’s Drowning Prevention Initiatives and financial assistance program, which provides community members access to the organization’s life-changing programs.
“The YMCA of South Palm Beach County is extremely honored to host Olympic icon Dara Torres as this year’s keynote speaker, as she will share words of motivation and perseverance from her decorated career,” says Jason Hagensick, president and CEO of the YMCA of South Palm Beach County, according to a press release. “Her incredible strength, endurance and dedication to health and fitness makes her an exemplary portrayal of the Y’s three pillars of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.”
Considered one of the greatest female competitive swimmers of all time, Torres began swimming competitively on the international stage at age 14 and has participated in the Olympics five times, taking home 12 medals. Today, the 51-year-old travels the nation as a motivational speaker and is a featured correspondent on “We Need to Talk,” a Gracie Award-winning CBS Sports TV show with all-female panelists discussing the latest in sports news.
