Death Cab for Cutie is ready to rock your world.
The alt rock band is currently touring behind "Thank You for Today," its new album that soared to the top of the charts days after its release.
No doubt the group will feature many of its new songs during its show on Oct. 22 at 8 p.m. at the Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater.
"We're so ready to play these songs for you," the group tells fans on its website. "Thank you for the opportunity to do so. Thank you for taking the next step with us. This isn't our record anymore: it's yours. Thank you for today."
Founded by singer and guitarist Ben Gibbard, the group now comprises Gibbard, Nick Harmer, Jason McGerr, Dave Depper and Zac Rae.
"Death Cab for Cutie's rise from small-time solo project to Grammy-nominated rock band is one of indie rock's greatest success stories," notes the Fillmore's website. "Launched in the bayside college town of Bellingham, Washington, the group was originally a side project for Gibbard, an engineering student at Western Washington University who split his time between school and music.
"In conversation, it's obvious that the members of Death Cab for Cutie are still each other's biggest fans. More important, they genuinely enjoy making music with each other and being in a band together. Their only motivation is to create music they like - and to impress and satisfy each other. Theirs might not be a controversial rock and roll story - but it is one rooted in stable, supportive brotherhood."
Since 1997, the group has been nominated for eight Grammy Awards and is known for its heart-on-your-sleeve lyrics. O
