Cut down your kids’ screen time and introduce them to the one-of-a-kind Miami’s Balloon Museum, where interactive and monumental artworks spark the imagination and redefine your perception of art.
Founded in Italy, the museum tours cities worldwide with distinctive displays. In Miami, the exhibit at Mana Wynwood, “Let’s Fly,” which runs until Oct.6, centers on physical interaction and features awe-inspiring installations, including a luminous labyrinth, bouncing spheres, colorful graphic creations with hypnotic visual effects and a kaleidoscopic fountain.
Not-to-missed exhibits include Hyperstellar, a mysterious universe represented by floor-to-ceiling black balls and a 360-degree LED screen showcasing high-resolution shots of exploding water droplets and air bubbles. There’s also the AI Dataportal of Atlanta, an immersive tunnel filled with thousands of tiny colored beads that replicate the city’s air data through mesmerizing images, as well as Airscape, an inflatable world boasting balloons, castles, palaces, rollercoasters and even underwater creatures.
The Balloon Museum’s concept is about having fun while exploring transdisciplinary art through immersive experiences. For “Let’s Fly” in Miami, the artists “are aware of the need to renew exhibit formats, and are constantly seeking to push the limits of this material, which can be transformed at will,” states the museum’s website. “In addition, you’ll discover a space devoted to the history of inflatables, from the first experiments by the Montgolfier brothers in the 18th century to the famous Balloon Dog series by American artist Jeff Koons.”
