Sometimes, you have to lose to win.
That was certainly the case for musician Niall Horan, whose career skyrocketed in 2010 after he was eliminated as a contestant on the British reality show “X Factor” but paired with four other contestants to form the boy band One Direction.
The “it” group topped the charts until it disbanded in 2016. Horan dusted himself off and launched a solo career, topping the charts the next year with “Flicker,” his debut album.
Fast forward: His second album, “Heartbreak Weather,” launched last month. No doubt those tunes will dominate the setlists of his Nice To Meet Ya Tour, which will rock the BB&T Center in Sunrise on April 24 at 7 p.m.
“I have worked so hard on this album for the last 18 months, and I am soooo ready to release it,” Horan writes in a Facebook post. “I had the time of my life making it, and, when you hear it, I hope you’ll be able to hear that in the music. 2020 is going to be a fun year for us – let’s enjoy it to the max.”
His tour is a triple treat: He’s bringing along Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi of “Someone You Loved” fame. Described by The Guardian as “sounds like Joe Cocker, swears
like a trooper and has David Hasselhoff beating down his door,” he’s sure to add spark to the tour. American singer-songwriter Fletcher, whose single “Undrunk” charted on the Billboard Hot 100 list, rounds out the fun. O
