Whether it’s the relentless afternoon storms or the scorching heat, keeping the entire family entertained during the summer months in South Florida can be a challenge. With that in mind, indoor attractions are a smart option. Cue Superblue Miami, a groundbreaking and first-of-its-kind museum in the Allapattah neighborhood.
Featuring over 50,000 square feet of immersive experiences by world-renowned artists, Superblue Miami offers an unparalleled way to enjoy art for visitors of all ages. Best known for its dynamic and large-scale digital art walls, it also boasts seasonal installations like the recent “The Chronicles of Miami” and “The Machine Behind the Art” by French street artist Jean-René, better known as JR.
Enlivening Superblue Miami’s exterior façade, “The Chronicles of Miami” encompasses a photographic mural of 1,048 portraits, offering “a window into the social dynamics and paradoxes present in Miami life,” according to the artist’s website. “The Machine Behind the Art: Inside JR’s Printing Press” is an immersive experience that begins with visitors entering a photobooth to take a black-and-white portrait then watching the oversized image come to life in rollers of an overhead printing press and float to the ground, according to a press release.
In addition to JR’s murals, which will be on view until the end of the year, Superblue Miami also features large-scale immersive environments year-round, including Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s “Pulse Topology,” James Turrell’s “AKHU,” teamLab’s “Between Life and Non-Life” and Es Devlin’s “Forest of Us.”
