Family Central, Inc. (FCI) is a multi-faceted agency focused on meeting the needs of children and their families, founded in 1971 by United Way of Broward County and the Junior League of Broward County.
FCI’s mission is to strengthen relationships and create nurturing communities where children and families flourish. FCI’s vision is that all children have the capacity to realize their dream. FCI is committed to this mission and provides an array of services to support South Florida’s most vulnerable children and families. Nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation and certified by the International Association of Continuing Education and Training, FCI has grown into an agency serving over 18,000 children and families in South Florida annually through family strengthening, early learning initiatives, a childcare food program, and educational training.
In 2019, FCI was acquired by Kids In Distress, Inc. (KID), allowing for a greater continuum of care for South Florida children and families in need. FCI staff deliver evidence-based programs successfully and with excellence. Programs currently provided address multiple risk factors and build protective factors to reduce the effects of trauma within the family/community. Programs include: Mental Health Child Care Consultation (JumpStart); Nurturing Parenting Programs (NPP); and Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngers (HIPPY). FCI also partners and contracts with Royal Caribbean Cruise Line to operate Little Cruisers Child Development Center, a model childcare center.
