When a nonprofit is running out of room, it’s both a good thing and a bad thing.
It’s great that the organization is doing well – but potentially detrimental if it can’t find or afford a new space.
Luckily for the Junior League of Boca Raton, Crocker Partners recently announced a major in-kind gift: the donation of about 1,500 square feet of space at its Boca Raton Innovation Campus (BRiC). The former IBM headquarters and birthplace of the personal computer will now be home to the nonprofit’s Diaper Bank, which serves 5,000 children annually through the Junior League’s partnerships with 22 local agencies. The space will be used to store and distribute more than 600,000 diapers each year.
“This incredibly generous gift will help us provide diapers to local families in need, enabling babies and toddlers to attend day care, thus allowing their parents to go to work,” says Cristy Stewart-Harfmann, president of the Junior League of Boca Raton, according to a press release.
She adds: “The COVID-19 crisis has hit so many families hard, making the purchase of many essentials, including diapers, nearly impossible. Through the Diaper Bank, families in need will not be faced with leaving their child in a dirty diaper all day.”
As part of a long-term partnership, Crocker Partners will also be donating its conference center for some of the Junior League’s general member meetings. Angelo Bianco, managing partner, and Giana Pacinelli, marketing director of Crocker Partners, were instrumental in arranging the lease and partnership agreement.
“Our primary corporate directive at Crocker Partners is 'Family First,'” Bianco says, according to a press release. “We embrace the opportunity to help parents at a time when they should be focused on loving their baby – not worried about affording diapers, especially in today’s stressful economic conditions.”
To donate diapers, email diaperbank@jlbr.org, and a volunteer will pick up the donation; or use the Junior League’s Amazon wish list to have diapers shipped directly to the organization.
