Marty Haberer
Community Agency
Marty Haberer hadn’t yet unpacked and he was already attending Seders, meeting with staff and members, visiting early childhood classrooms and connecting with members and program participants.
“I hit the ground running,” says Haberer, who in April was tapped after an extensive national executive search by the Levis JCC Board of Directors, as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Adolph & Rose Levis Jewish Community Center in Boca Raton. The Levis JCC provides a broad range of enriching programs and services for individuals of all ages and abilities to meet the diverse needs of its members, the Jewish community and the community-at-large. These include the Betty & Marvin Zale Early Childhood Learning Center, Marleen Forkas Camps (scholarships available for both), Phyllis & Harvey Sandler Center, and Helene & Roy Schwedelson Special Needs Department.
Haberer, who brings more than 36 years of Jewish communal experience shared, “I have always believed that where the community is that needs me the most, that’s where I go.”
He came to Boca Raton from Arizona where he was President and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix. After finding the right partner to take that Federation to the next level, Haberer was ready to do the same for another burgeoning agency.
“When I learned of the Levis JCC opportunity, I knew my strong agency experience would help ‘vision forward’ yet another vibrant community,” says Haberer.
Prior to Phoenix, he spent 13 years at Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee in Florida following leadership tenure at Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit.
Since arriving in Florida, Haberer has been on an active internal and external ‘listening tour’ to take in what he learns to both build on the already robust Levis JCC’s foundation, and expand its outreach footprint within the community.
Haberer has been impressed by the JCC’s signature “welcoming warmth” he and his wife Lori experienced since his appointment. “It underscores that the Levis JCC is not defined by walls, but its essential programming and its continued ‘widest open door’ ability to connect people with our community and with each other within South Palm Beach County.”
