Melissa Perlman
Elite Athlete and Public Relations Professional
Melissa Perlman, a distinguished public relations professional in South Florida, has also made a name for herself as an elite marathon runner. Her dedication to both fields has led to remarkable achievements, with her personal records (PRs) on the road reflecting the same commitment she brings to her professional endeavors.
Perlman is the founder and president of BlueIvy Communications, a public relations and communications agency based in Delray Beach and West Palm Beach. Since its inception in 2011, BlueIvy has grown to offer a wide range of services such as traditional PR, social media, website design, branding and reputation management.
Parallel to her professional career, Perlman has pursued competitive running since 1996. She was a multi-State Champion in Cross Country and Track at Spanish River High School in Boca Raton. She was also a member of the Cross Country and Track teams at Brown University. And she has represented Team USA in the Maccabiah Games (Jewish Olympics) six times, earning medals each time. In April, Perlman finished the London Marathon as the first female finisher from the U.S., and six months later achieved a personal best time of 2 hours and 42 minutes at the Chicago Marathon, ranking her among the top marathoners globally.
Perlman’s ability to excel in both PR and running highlights the synergy between professional and athletic pursuits, demonstrating that commitment and hard work can lead to success across all fields. And now, her passion for athletics and public relations are colliding.
While BlueIvy has handled PR for the Delray Beach Open since 2018, it’s only in the past year that the company has expanded to lead PR for two more Palm Beach County sporting events: ESPN’s Boca Raton Bowl and the inaugural James Hardie™ Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational.
These additions join BlueIvy’s already impressive client roster, which includes the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties, Komen Florida, Delray Beach DDA, B’nai Torah Congregation, JARC Florida, Sachs Sax Caplan and many more.
“When I’m passionate about something, I give it my all to ensure its success,” says Perlman. “I’m incredibly proud to have been able to accomplish that in both my running and professional life.”
