Lesley Hack, DVM
Veterinarian
A schoolteacher asked the young daughter of Lesley Hack, DVM, medical director of the Boca Veterinary Clinic, about her mom’s job. The girl said, “My mommy fixes things.”
The teacher assumed Dr. Hack was a repair person. “I told them I fix animals,” she says. “And that’s become my guiding principle.”
Open since 2010, Boca Veterinary Clinic in Boca Raton is a state-of-the-art 7,000-square foot clinic with nine exam rooms, six doctors and 40 staffers.
It’s open seven days a week with multiple doctors on-site daily, treating only dogs and cats.
It’s one of the largest privately owned multi-doctor hospitals in South Florida. The practice can handle nearly every veterinary need, so you won’t have to go elsewhere. It does everything from simple procedures to complex and complicated surgeries.
You won’t have to wait for a specialist or book a procedure in advance. The clinic typically provides same-day or next-day appointments.
“We do just about everything ourselves so you’re not running around looking for a specialist unless it’s absolutely essential,” says Dr. Hack.
When you leave, you won’t feel alone. They provide detailed discharge instructions and will follow-up with texts and calls.
“We won’t abandon you.” Dr. Hack strives to openly communicate with her patients. “I know my people,” she says. “And when you know your people, you can provide better care of what they can and cannot do (such as whether you’ll really give that cat her medicine).”
She also believes in getting to the root of a problem and fixing it. “I’m a huge believer in finding out why.”
Dr. Hack came to Boca Raton 22 years ago from South Africa. “Everyone in my family is a doctor,” she says. “But they all treat humans.”
She has been a veterinarian for 35 years. “I love medicine, surgery and animals. Being a vet lets me put all those interests to use in one place.”
