Brinkley Morgan’s Family Law Practice Provides Comprehensive Legal Services
When Roberta Stanley joined Brinkley Morgan in 1996, she and a paralegal were the only two handling family law matters. Today, 10 of the firm’s 23 attorneys focus on cases relating to family law, making it one of the largest family law practices in South Florida.
Stanley was named Managing Partner of the full-service firm in 2017 and has been focused on its continued growth. Brinkley Morgan recently added an office in north Palm Beach County, expanding its presence from Fort Lauderdale through the Treasure Coast. In addition to family law, attorneys specialize in real estate; wills, trusts and estate planning; probate and trust litigation; tax law; corporate and business law; commercial litigation and more.
“Family law is about everything. It can touch on business valuation, taxes, real estate, child support and time sharing. Having attorneys down the hall who practice in those areas allows us to have all of those resources readily available to our clients,” says Stanley, who focuses her practice on complex divorces and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. “There is nothing in marital family law we can’t handle.”
The firm’s family law attorneys are well regarded. Five are board certified and four are Fellows of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers™. Most of the firm’s attorneys are rated AV Preeminent® by Martindale-Hubbell and have been recognized by various publications, such as Florida Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America® and Legal Elite, among others.
The firm has earned a well-deserved reputation for its handling of high-net-worth clients, but Stanley says everyone should have access to skilled, reputable attorneys.
“One of the reasons why I built a department instead of staying a single practitioner was because of the breadth of the department. That’s very important to me because it allows us to make good lawyering and expertise available to many,” she says.
Stanley adds that family law isn’t what is portrayed on TV.
“This isn’t about yelling in court or looking for the smoking gun. It’s about helping families in a professional, preferably uncontentious manner. We care about our clients and understand they are going through difficult times. Although we are not afraid to litigate, we try to find a solution that’s best for the client.”
