David Dweck
Disabilities Nonprofit
David Dweck’s involvement with JARC Florida, a nonprofit and nonsectarian organization, happened thanks to the University of Miami. He was at a car event and noticed that he was sitting next to a fellow alumni, JARC Florida CEO Jeffrey M. Zirulnick. They reconnected and Dweck brainstormed the idea to hold a car show to raise money for JARC.
In its third year, Cars on Congress is a family-friendly car show benefiting JARC Florida held at Hagerty Garage and Social in Delray Beach on April 2. Attendees can tour the state-of-the-art garage and see cars worth millions. See South Florida’s best collector cars and grab food from local food trucks. “If we can combine doing good with having fun, then it’s a win-win,” says Dweck, who runs the event.
All money raised during and from the event benefits JARC Florida. The organization serves nearly 200 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in its group homes and independent living arrangements in Boca Raton and Delray Beach. They also offer apartments for those who don’t need 24-hour supervision. JARC hosts job training programs and helps their clients get jobs within the community to help give them a sense of independence, purpose and empowerment. JARC was created in the mid-1980s to respond to the needs of families with adult children who have developmental disabilities. “I’m passionate about what JARC does,” says Dweck. “They’re people in our lives who often aren’t cared for and it’s refreshing to see JARC clients mainstreamed and work,” he says.
“To know that the money raised at the car show goes towards helping JARC clients, showing them a better quality of life and that they matter is meaningful to me. I like to know that a difference is being made.”
Dweck is a real estate investor, private lender and a licensed Realtor©. His company, Private Equity Funding, specializes in private loans for real estate investors. He is founder and president of the Boca Real Estate Investment Club, which is an event sponsor. He has bought, sold, renovated, consulted and brokered over 2,500 transactions. Dweck also helps distressed South Florida homeowners by buying homes for cash.
