Award-Winning Attorney Mark Osherow Enjoys Taking On Tough Cases
Mark Osherow launched his firm two years ago after working for some of Florida’s big-name firms during 30 years of practice. Attorneys often call him for complicated cases involving complex litigation. And it’s no wonder: Osherow has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America for the past six years and on the Super Lawyers list for 13 years in a row. Florida Trend magazine twice named him a Florida Legal Elite.
Perhaps his most impressive accolade is the gold standard in attorney ratings: an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell. Attorneys referring clients use ratings to identify the best lawyers, as do individuals researching lawyers to meet their needs.
Osherow prides himself on a customized approach in a broad spectrum of cases.
“I don’t have a cookie-cutter practice,” he says. “For a complicated case or a case with many parties, I am the kind of lawyer you might consider.”
As a board certified business litigator since 2006, Osherow handles disputes involving shareholders, business partners, employees and employers. His practice often involves issues relating to contracts, trade secrets, construction, real estate, fraud, trademark and copyright infringement.
Osherow’s small firm has a strong reputation beyond Florida. He effectively uses technology to compete with much larger firms but keeps overhead low to practice cost- effectively, passing on savings to clients.
“At big firms, it’s often about the rates and hours billed. For me, it’s not just about the money,” says Osherow. “Frequently, it’s about helping people with difficult situations and the gratification I get from that.”
Although a seasoned trial lawyer, he seeks alternative dispute resolution, such as mediation and arbitration, whenever possible. Osherow works with two “of counsel” attorneys. One speaks Spanish and Portuguese and works with many international clients. The other focuses her practice on employment law.
Although Osherow is an aggressive litigator, he always strives to be calm, professional and, most importantly, ethical.
“I don’t believe you have to be rude or obnoxious,” he says. “I litigate with the weight of the issues and by believing in the causes I have taken on.”
