Liza C. Wu, M.D., MBA, FACS, is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon who recently relocated to Boca Raton from Philadelphia. After 17 years at an academic practice, she has brought her expertise to South Florida and opened Privé Plastic Surgery in Boca Raton, a premier plastic surgery office that offers injectables, lasers and state-of-the-art surgical procedures. She specializes in both reconstructive and aesthetic surgeries of the face and body.
Dr. Wu is one of a few surgeons in the country that has been trained in both breast surgery and plastic surgery, enabling her to perform the removal of breast cancer as well as reconstruction of the breast. She is also world-renowned in reconstructive microsurgery, allowing the surgeon to use tissues from one part of the body to reconstruct another part by transferring blood vessels and nerves.
In fact, that’s her favorite part of her job.
“Restoring a woman’s body where she feels more confident about herself is the most rewarding part of what I do,” says Dr. Wu.
Her inspiration was her own mother who had a mastectomy. It wasn’t until 10 years later that her mother sought delayed reconstruction of her breast. Dr. Wu saw how it changed her mother’s entire spirit; it made her more comfortable and confident, allowing her to enjoy simple things again like trying on clothes.
Dr. Wu completed her undergraduate studies at Stanford University and earned her medical degree and training at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. She then completed a microsurgery fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and a breast surgical oncology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Wu received her MBA at the Wharton School of the University of Pennyslania. She left Pennsylvania in July 2022 to open her own practice, Privé Plastic Surgery.
Her goal is to provide clients seeking plastic surgery in South Florida an unprecedented level of education, training and experience. Her philosophy is to recognize and value the patient’s individuality and natural beauty.
“When I see a patient, it’s important to me that we have shared decision-making. I want to understand their point of view. I focus on the patient’s goals and work with them to understand what needs to be done to get to that goal,” she says.
