Eric Schwartzreich always had a flare for the dramatic and early on wanted to pursue a career in acting. Schwartzreich’s grandfather and uncle, both business men and attorneys mentored him into a career in trial law. It was in the courtroom spotlight, where he could direct and cross witness and argue themes in openings and closings.
Schwartzreich holds extensive trial experience throughout Florida, with more than 25 years spent handling adult and juvenile matters ranging from small cases to high profile ones in state and federal courts. Schwartzreich has tried over 200 bench and jury trials, making him a skilled litigator. “I’m happiest when I’m in the courtroom.”
He has represented clients with felony and misdemeanor charges including murder, drug offenses including drug trafficking, rape/sexual battery, grand theft, fraud and DUI/DWI. He represents individuals facing probation violations and other probation-related issues. He handles white collar cases including healthcare fraud. “I fight for my clients like they’re family.”
Schwartzreich also handles criminal appeals, arguing before the Florida Appellate Courts and Florida Supreme Court. Most recently, Schwartzreich was the first attorney in Florida to successfully argue before the Florida Supreme Court for a law enforcement officer’s right to use Florida’s Stand Your Ground Laws.
His passion for the law and the legal system brought him to the American Heritage High School Law Program in Plantation, where he has been coaching their high school mock trial team for 17 years. His students have won over 10 Broward County Mock Trial competitions, five state championships and three titles in the Empire Mock Trial Competition against the best U.S. and international teams.
Schwartzreich’s past and current community involvement include the Fort Lauderdale Beach Rotary Club. He was previously appointed to the Human Rights Board and appointed as an alternate on Plantation’s Zoning Board.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio. He received his MBA at Nova Southeastern University and his law degree from St. Thomas University School of Law.
Schwartzreich lives in Broward County, with his wife Mila, who is an attorney and general counsel for the Broward County Property Appraiser’s Office. He has two amazing daughters, Sky and Syd with Sky following in the family footsteps in her first year of law school, along with his two dogs — Alibi (an English goldendoodle) and Felony (a twoodle).
