Richard Weissman
Preschool Learning Education
Under the leadership of Chairman, CEO and Co-Founder Richard Weissman, The Learning Experience® (TLE®) has become the number one childcare franchise in the U.S. The company opens one to two locations each week and expanded its footprint into Europe in October 2020.
Since 2002, when Weissman reformed the company that his parents started in 1980, he has facilitated the growth of the family-owned Deerfield Beach-based company to 450 centers — 345 operating and over 200 under development, including several centers serving South Florida — educating close to 50,000 children, from infants to kindergarteners.
‘Happy Happens Here’ isn’t just the motto of The Learning Experience, but its daily philosophy, too.
“In order to deliver excellence in education, it’s all about the culture (of our team members),” explains Weissman, who was raised in Boca Raton and whose family — his wife, Robin, four children (who also work at TLE) and four grandchildren — all live there. “We focus on the teachers and make sure that they are happy and enjoy coming to this environment.”
“It’s important that we all breathe and live the same mission, in every center, all the time,” he points out. “Everything is proprietary — we write, produce and own our programs — and approach early education with innovation.”
The child-focused L.E.A.P. (Learning Experience Academic Program) curriculum, for example, encourages children to learn by exploring and doing. They develop intellectually, socially and cognitively through various early educational materials, activities and social interactions.
“All of our curriculums are delivered through (96) colorfully animated characters,” adds Weissman. “They capture children’s imaginations and help set TLE completely apart in the early education field.”
Bubbles (the elephant) is a lovable friend who takes children on a daily adventure that makes them happy to learn, play and grow, while Grace & Charity are TLE’s dynamic doggy duo that introduce the importance of generosity through the learning of philanthropy. And so on.
What started out as a family’s groundbreaking vision for early childhood education has become a uniquely successful program (franchise) called The Learning Experience, where kids feel comforted, creative and curious.
