Actress And Breast Cancer Survivor Rita Wilson To Headline 15th Annual Go Pink Luncheon

On Oct. 26, the 15th Annual Go Pink Luncheon will welcome actress, producer, writer, singer and breast cancer survivor Rita Wilson. Hosted by the Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation, the luncheon is one of South Florida's largest women's health events, raising funds and awareness in the fight against breast cancer. All proceeds benefit the Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute and the Christine E. Lynn Women's Health & Wellness Institute at Boca Regional.

In 2015, Wilson was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. She has since reported a full recovery. Today, she stresses the importance of early detection, trusting one's instincts and seeking a second opinion as keys to her recovery.

Community philanthropist Patti Carpenter serves as the luncheon chair and will host the event along with the Go Pink committee. The event will feature a variety of fundraising initiatives, including the AutoNation Pink Daisy Pick Raffle. Additionally, the Wall of Strength will display personalized pink ribbons to honor friends and loved ones who have been touched by cancer.

Saks Fifth Avenue will provide a gift for each guest and will have a pop-up shop showcasing the latest trends in fashion. In addition, Saks will donate a portion of proceeds from its Key to the Cure shopping weekend, October 26-28, to the hospital.

The luncheon, which will take place at the Boca Raton Resort & Club, includes a Fund-A-Need campaign that will help the institutes provide a new dimension of patient care. The new program will offer patients support classes during and after treatment as well as lessons on cosmetic application, skin and nail care, scarf styling and more. Event attendees can easily donate to the campaign via their phones. The Boca Raton Observer is the event's exclusive magazine sponsor. O
