In The Pink

This year’s 18th Annual Go Pink Luncheon will be Oct. 21 at The Boca Raton.

Emmy Award winning actor and The New York Times best-selling author, Derek Hough will be the speaker. Hosted by Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation, the luncheon, held in loving memory of Luncheon Chair Patti Carpenter, is one of South Florida’s largest women’s health events, raising funds and awareness in the fight against breast cancer. All proceeds benefit cancer programs at the Eugene M. and Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute and the Christine E. Lynn Women’s Health and Wellness Institute at Boca Raton Regional Hospital.

Hough, who has appeared in film, television and stage projects as an actor and served as a judge and pro dancer on “Dancing With the Stars,” is the most nominated male choreographer in Television Academy history. Hough is also a noted philanthropist. His personal ties to breast cancer have sparked his passion to raise awareness and funds for the disease. In addition to his role as an Ambassador for Dancers Against Cancer, Hough also has hosted fundraising events for local breast cancer foundations throughout North America including, “Bust A Move” in Ottawa, Canada which raised over $1 million.

Louise Morrell, M.D., Medical Director of the Eugene M. and Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute, will also be a featured speaker. Dr. Morrell is a board-certified medical oncologist, specializing in cancer genetics and breast cancer care and noted as an educator and spokesperson.

The event features fundraising initiatives, including the Constellation Brands|Sands Family Foundation Pink Daisy Pick Raffle. This year’s exclusive grand prize is Coomi designer fine jewelry earrings, provided courtesy of Saks Fifth Avenue Boca Raton. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink in honor of breast cancer awareness month.
