Since opening its doors in 2014, the JAFCO Children’s Ability Center has provided a wide array of programs and services for children with developmental disabilities and their families in South Florida.

It offers a beautiful, clean and fun place where children can be safe and feel like they belong. Recently, the center opened its doors to welcome Bloomingdale’s Boca Raton for a day of service. 

The team started the day with a tour of the facility with Randi Winter, JAFCO’s philanthropy director, to familiarize themselves with the different services offered onsite. The Bloomingdale’s team then broke off into groups for various activities with the children, including cooking and preparing lunch, playing games on the playground, and doing arts and crafts projects. Those in attendance were members of Bloomingdale’s senior leadership team, including Dana Weiss, southeast director of marketing and events, and Beth Rosenstein, Boca Raton store manager.

“With hundreds of children and families served each month, it takes a village to keep the Ability Center at the top of its game,” says Jessica Stein, senior development associate at JAFCO. “Having volunteers come in for just a few hours to interact with the children of JAFCO and learn what we are about will continue to help spread our message and awareness of the center. Having gap camp while schools were out for spring break was the perfect time for the Bloomingdale’s Boca team to come in and see all that the Ability Center has to offer.”

The center currently offers more than 40 enrichment programs each week, including music, art, sports, drama, STEM, social skills and life skills on its 42,000-square-foot campus. O
