Reflections Of Hope Luncheon Set For Feb. 10

Marie Osmond Is Keynote Speaker At Annual Event

Legendary Singer, television performer, talk show host, dancer, actor and author, Marie Osmond will be the keynote speaker at this year’s JFS “Reflections Of Hope” luncheon Feb.10 at Boca West Country Club.

This compelling program was created in an effort to break the stigma associated with mental illness, a critical issue affecting one in four adults.  Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit the JFS Counseling & Mental Health Services, including the Welcome Home Program.

Osmond is an ardent advocate when it comes to mental health. Having battled depression herself, she has shown us, repeatedly, the importance of breaking the stigma of mental illness and the impactful ways she has been able to deal with her struggles with strength and dignity.

“This powerful event provides hope and inspiration and opens the door to a world of possibilities,” said Jane Gortz, who is chairing the luncheon with Co-Chairs Carol Winig and Teri Wolofsky.  Grand Benefactors of “Reflections Of Hope” are Lori & Gregg Gottsegen, Robin & Gary Rubin and Olivia & Gerald Shapiro.  Honorary Co-Chairs are Judi Donoff and Nancy Schiller.

“The community has provided overwhelming support of our efforts to raise awareness of mental illness which in turn helps us provide much needed services,” added Winig.   “Mental illness can affect us all as it doesn’t have socioeconomic or demographic barriers,” said Wolofsky.

JFS offers psychiatric care, psychological evaluation, counseling, support groups, and the Welcome Home Program, south Palm Beach County’s only daytime drop-in center for adults with long-term mental illness. The program offers socialization opportunities and the therapists teach life skills, health education, art therapy, self-esteem and anxiety workshops, goal setting, and educational groups.
