Time To Boot Up

The Pap Corps Hosted Inaugural Country Hoedown

The Pap Corps Champions for Cancer Research recently introduced a new community event: the Country Hoedown at the South County Civic Center in Delray Beach.

The fun-filled night was open to members and non-members alike and featured a barbecue dinner, line dancing lessons from The Delray Ballroom, a photo booth and two-stepping to the Rodeo Deluxe band. This inaugural event, hosted by the recently formed Men’s Initiative of The Pap Corps, raised funds for cancer research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

“It [was] time for a little Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” says David Bakelman, CEO of The Pap Corps. “We are so proud of the members of the Men’s Initiative for coordinating such an exciting event. This evening [was] a perfect opportunity to introduce new people to the mission of The Pap Corps while also engaging our longtime members in a fun-filled community event!”

The initiative was formed in 2018 to encourage male membership, provide a supportive environment to learn about cancer research at Sylvester and share inspiring stories from sports celebrities.

“This is an amazing group of men who are uniting to help raise funds for cancer research, forming strong friendships and getting the opportunity to learn about important health issues in a way that is geared for us guys,” says Howard Levine, member of the Men’s Initiative Steering Committee.

Since its founding in 1952, The Pap Corps has donated more than $110 million to Sylvester, including a $50 million pledge in 2016. O
