Come Fly With Me

This Month, We Celebrate The Joys of Travel

Linda L. Behmoiras

There’s something so transformative about travel.

It takes you out of your daily life; introduces you to new people, places and experiences; and reminds you that there’s an entire world out there – waiting to be explored. That’s why we love our February Travel Issue so much. We have a blast putting it together and learning about fascinating destinations close to home and around the globe. I hope you enjoy it, too, and that it inspires some wanderlust in you.

First, we say “Forget Paris” (page 66) in a travelogue of northern France that’s full of charm and history. From the World War II beaches and striking monuments of Normandy to the picturesque towns and mouthwatering seafood of Brittany to the enchanting chateaus and white wines of the Loire Valley, there’s so much to love.

Next, in “Full Speed Ahead” (page 72), we take a closer look at a trend you’ve probably noticed in your own travels: how cutting-edge technologies are changing the world of travel. While some of these innovations (like sleep pods and luggage tracking apps) are already in use, others (like flying taxis and facial recognition at security checkpoints) are on the horizon and sure to disrupt the industry – for the better.

Raise a glass to this next destination, the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, which we trek in “That’s The Spirit” (page 76). Since 1999, this route has been guiding visitors on a road-trip-like journey to the state’s many traditional and craft distilleries, each with its own character and history.

If you’ve ever nixed a trip because you didn’t want to leave your canine companion behind, this one’s for you. In “Have Fido, Will Travel” (page 82), we explore pet-friendly hotels and resorts throughout the state. Offering everything from dog beds and welcome treats to signature canine cocktails and doggie robes, these properties will make your furry friend feel right at home.

Finally, we wrap things up with a journey full of surprise and adventure: Panama. The country – and its capital, Panama City, in particular – has changed a lot in recent years, offering equal parts modernity and history. In “Crossroads Of The World” (page 86), as the country is called, we take you on a tour of the Panama Canal, tropical rainforests, historic districts and more.

I also wanted to share some great news with you all: Starting with this issue, The Boca Raton Observer has expanded its circulation into 70 Delray Beach communities, making us the largest circulated magazine in the city based on mailed circulation. We look forward to bringing you all that makes Delray so special with our continued coverage of South Palm Beach County.

Wishing you a Happy Valentine’s Day full of love, hugs and kisses. See you next month!

Best,
