A Man’s World

The Ultimate Read For And About Men

by

As the mother of two young men, I understand it can be a complicated world to navigate these days, and sometimes, a little inspiration can help manage all the ups and downs. For that, I think of the legendary inventor Alexander Graham Bell who said, “A man, as a general rule, owes very little to what he is born with — a man is what he makes of himself.”

I can’t think of a better, or more inspiring, example of that than prolific actor Lou Diamond Phillips, on the cover of our May Men’s Issue. In “Coming Full Circle” (page 60) we chat with him about his heady Hollywood career along with another, lesser-known, page-turning passion he’s dedicating more and more time to now.

One thing’s for sure, we could all use more laughter, and our interview with Mordechi “Modi” Rosenfeld in “And Here’s Modi!” (page 72) gives readers the inside scoop of what makes one of the funniest comedians tick. I had the pleasure of seeing him perform last February and can’t recall the last time I laughed that hard.

Of course, not everything is a laughing matter, and that includes the important issue of birth control. In “The Rise Of The Vasectomy” (page 78) we explore why some men are opting for this procedure at younger ages than typically seen before.

And because we love to travel — and know how important it is for the men in your life to get away a bit as well, we bring you “Mancation Destination” (page 66) where we feature the ultimate vacation locations for guys to explore.

Before I sign off, I’d like to extend a “Happy Mother’s Day” to all the moms celebrating and take this moment to tip my hat to the wonderful mothers I know in my life — including my own!

With Gratitude,
