Be A Superhero To Kids

Annual All Heart 5K Run Held By The Ann Storck Center

by

If you always wanted to be a superhero, now is your chance. The Ann Storck Center is holding its 3rd Annual All Heart 5K run Aug. 26 at Vista View Park in Davie.

Participants are being urged to dress as a Dynamic Duo — and we don’t think they mean the South Korean hip hop duo — rappers Choiza and Gaeko.  We’re thinking more like Batman and Robin or Captain America and the Falcon.

If you can’t run the whole 5K, that’s okay, there’s also a one-mile walk. You can do it individually, as a family or a company. Proceeds benefit Ann Storck Center, which serves both children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities by helping them to discover abilities and build independence.

The organization, which was founded in 1951, accommodates 96 permanent residents and more than 300 clients daily through an array of critical care, learning and ability focused programs. There are four group homes as well as two intermediate care facilities. They also offer an array of at-home services, special education for children as well as adult day training.

Registration is from 7 to 9 a.m. at Pavilions 1 and 2. The run begins at 8 a.m., walkers at 9 a.m.
