The World Is Your Oyster

It's Always Good To Get Away

It’s always good to get away. Whether it’s a weekend escape to relax in the Keys or a two-week expedition to explore all that Spain has to offer, the memories are priceless.

The minute I get home (and sometimes even before), I’m planning my next getaway. But, with so many incredible places to visit, where do you start? Our February Travel Issue is packed with amazing getaways – here and abroad – that will have you saying, “I’ve gotta go there.”

We start our world tour in Romania, a charming country poised to be the next big European destination. Its craggy mountains, bucolic countryside, medieval villages and castles on hills – along with a fascinating history – make it a must-see destination. Discover its appeal in “Road Trip: Romania” (page 62).

They say getting there is half the fun, and we’ve got the proof in “Above And Beyond” (page 68), a behind-the-scenes look at the world’s best, most innovative airports. You won’t have to sit around reading a boring book at these hubs. Want to enjoy a spa treatment, watch an IMAX movie or take a dip in a rooftop pool? All that is possible – and much more. These attraction-packed airports are truly destinations unto themselves.

There’s no place quite like Walla Walla – the town so nice they named it twice. This southeastern Washington gem is not only picture-postcard pretty, but it’s home to more than 130 wineries and a plethora of James Beard Award-winning chefs – the perfect spot for food and wine lovers. Join us in raising a glass to Walla Walla in “Move Over, Napa” (page 74).

Next, you’ll feel like a royal after reading “Fit For A Queen” (page 80). Editor Chelsea Greenwood’s journey through London is chockablock with high-end experiences that will leave you gobsmacked: world-class shopping, regal tea, indulgent dining – and even where to see Harry and Meghan’s wedding attire.

Finally, we speak to experienced travel experts who know a thing or two about destinations on a dime. Check out “Jet Set And Save” (page 86) for a detailed guide on how to spend less before, during and after your vacation.

We hope we inspire some wanderlust within you – and that you’re already packing your bags. I can tell you one thing: Mine are always ready to go.

See you next month!

Best,
