Fun In the Sun

It's Finally Summer – And We're Looking Forward To The Season

Linda L. Behmoiras

It’s (finally) summer. And while our friends and families in colder climates are busy boxing up their sweaters, we’re looking forward to the season for other reasons.

For us, it’s a long-awaited chance to relax, watch a riveting summer blockbuster, take an awesome vacation or spend much-needed time with kids home on college break. It’s also the perfect time to peruse our June/July Entertainment Issue, which is jam-packed with the latest buzz on ways to spend those lazy summer days as well as chats with some intriguing entertainers.

First, we were thrilled to have a heart-to-heart with Carrie Ann Inaba, the candid judge who tells it like it is on “Dancing With The Stars.” In “Dancing The Two-Step” (page 56), the longtime dancer – recently named a host on “The Talk” – opens up about her struggles with chronic illness. Her quandary will resonate with many of you, while her “can-do” attitude will certainly be an inspiration.

We’d also like to introduce a Boca Raton native on the path to stardom. Get to know actress Ronni Hawk, a former dancer at Boca Ballet Theatre, in “Homegrown Heroine” (page 68). At 19, she’s already taken the world by storm with her roles in “On My Block” and “Stuck in the Middle” and shows no signs of stopping.

Longer days give us more time for new adventures, and we’ve got ideas to take you from day to night. We hope you enjoy our insider look at the renovated Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach. “The New Norton” (page 72) delves into the facility’s $100 million revamp and all the exciting changes it sparked.

Sun-splashed days seem custom-made to explore South Florida’s pristine waterways. And, after reading “Paddle Out!” (page 76), you’ll be ready to embark on a canoe, kayak or paddleboard excursion. We rounded up the top venues and outfitters as well as local events and groups for like-minded paddlers.

There’s plenty to do after the sun sets – our slice of paradise sizzles long into the night. The proof is in our guide to South Florida’s most exciting nightlife. In “Let The Good Times Roll” (page 62), we take you to the best spots to dance, drink and be merry in the tri-county area.

As for myself, I’ll be enjoying some special family time as I wind down from the hectic season. Whatever you decide to do with your long, sun-filled days, here’s a toast to a delightful summer.

See you in August. Until then, enjoy every moment.

Best,

Linda L. Behmoiras
