Mastering Money

Interesting Topics Covering The Financial World

by

“Money is only a tool. It will take you wherever you wish, but it will not replace you as the driver.”

Novelist and philosopher Ayn Rand said these wise words, and how true they are. While one cannot deny the importance of money in today’s world, it’s how and what we chose to make of our financial journey that holds true weight.

Our September Business & Wealth Issue provides a healthy portfolio of interesting topics covering the financial world. I’m thrilled to start with our spectacular cover story “A Business Model” (page 64) showcasing the exceptionally talented former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model and business mogul Kathy Ireland. Her keen business sense and unwavering commitment to serve the public is truly inspirational.

You know who else evokes awe? Fashion Designer John Varvatos! From his early work with Ralph Lauren to his lead role at Calvin Klein (can you guess what he’s credited for inventing while there?) and his own successful label, our piece “Style Superstar” (page 76) recounts one of our country’s most beloved fashion designer’s trajectory in captivating detail.

I have to admit, I think a beautiful wallet is almost as important as a stunning handbag (I am a serious handbag addict), but with so many digital payment options out there today, are good old-fashioned bills and coins headed toward extinction? We take a close look in our “Cash Flow” story (page 70) and examine the pros and cons of this important topic.

We’ve all heard one should “do what you love” when it comes to work (thank goodness, I do!) but if you haven’t quite decided what that is, or are seeking a career change, “Top Dollar” (page 82) spells out those professions that pay the best. After all, wouldn’t it be grand to find your passion and financial security in one fell swoop?

I hope you find this issue as informative and delightful as I do. On a final note, to those who celebrate the High Holidays, my best wishes for a happy, healthy and sweet 5783 New Year. This is the first time in 3 years that we will celebrate Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur in person in synagogues, making it especially meaningful.

All the best,

Linda L. Behmoiras
