Our Time

Blessed By Extraordinary Women

“I’m a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That’s me.”

Maya Angelou

Who has not been touched by the grace, intelligence and pure force that was the great poet Maya Angelou?

While she may no longer be with us, her words, of course, live on, serving as a guide and source of inspiration to women all around the world.

As a self-made female entrepreneur, I find the wisdom, resilience and insight of other women to be incredibly uplifting, empowering and just plain helpful. In turn, I aspire to help other young women starting out by serving as a mentor, advocate or listening ear. Too often women feel they cannot or should not voice their opinions, desires and needs. And while women’s rights and place in society has advanced tremendously since my grandmother’s time, the journey is far from done and cannot be made alone.

Which is why I am thrilled to present our dynamic April Women’s Issue, brimming with female forces both past and present. We begin with the stunning and incredibly accomplished Tracy Tutor, one of L.A.’s top real estate agents and the first and only female cast member on Bravo’s “Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles.” Our story “Power Play” (page 72) reveals how she got where she is and the poignant and useful advice she offers other women. Packing a double-punch we move on to Jillian Michaels in “Happily Losing It” (page 84). The fitness icon who recently moved to South Florida shares tips on how to be your best self and balance work and play.

We’ve proven the expression “youth is wasted on the young” wrong in our piece “Girl Power” (page 78). Of course, we can’t guarantee you’ll be looking back and wondering if your own time was well spent in your earlier years when you’re done reading the incredible accomplishments these five women have reached at such a young age. Paving the way for them are some extraordinary women record breakers you may have never even have heard of. “Relentless Role Models” (page 90) offers a proper introduction to these fabulous females and their astonishing feats. And finally, while it takes a village, we must all start with a healthy self. “I’ve Got Me, Babe” (page 96) is the go-to guide for embracing and nourishing oneself. Check out the sidebar for some great questions to ask yourself to stay on track!

With so many inspiring stories and incredible women around the world, I am filled with joy and gratitude to honor and celebrate them, as well as strive to make them proud. On a personal note, I’d like to extend an appreciative thank you to the fabulous women in my life — my mom, sister, besties, colleagues and co-workers who help me reach the best version of myself.

With Warm Regards,
