Cannabis For Better Sex

by

Oysters and chocolate are known aphrodisiacs, but something else may take your sexual pleasure to another level. That aphrodisiac is cannabis.

When you think of cannabis (also known as weed or pot), you likely think it makes you tired and gives you the munchies. Indeed, that is true; it’s known for helping people unwind and relax. It makes us want to do less. Still, when you take medical marijuana, which is legal in Florida, it can make you want to do more — sexually.

An online survey of women and men who use cannabis found that nearly 60% said cannabis increased their desire for sex. Nearly three-quarters reported increased sexual satisfaction. Cannabis can enhance the overall sexual experience, increasing your libido, pleasure and desire. It can give you more intense orgasms. It promotes relaxation and heightens the senses. It alleviates stress, anxiety, inflammation and pain. It offers increased sensitivity to touch and reduces our inhibitions.

Cannabis can also help you connect better with your partner. You may be more communicative about your needs inside the bedroom, less self-conscious and may be more willing to experiment and get creative in bed. And with less anxiety, you can stop worrying and focus on your partner and yourself.

Know that smoking produces only a head high. Effects are usually felt in five minutes and last approximately two to three hours. “Smoking three drags can have a wonderful effect on sex for someone who’s never smoked before,” says Rabbi Joan Cubell, owner of Oasis Marijuana Doctors in Boca Raton and Boynton Beach.

Edible gummies, chocolates or brownies typically need 2 to 4 hours to take effect. It will last 6 hours and affect your whole body. “Be careful, since you don’t know when they’re going to kick in,” says Cubell. “Take the right dose and you’ll have a pleasurable experience.”

Go slow, advises Cubell. She says that edibles are 10 milligrams in Florida. That’s too much if you’ve never had an edible. Cut the edible into quarters; that will be plenty to take the edge off. Cubell says that if you do get too high, chew on a peppercorn and drink water to reverse its impact.

Take the time to educate yourself. Cubbell says, “If you don’t understand pot, you’re taking it and spending all this money but not getting the benefit you want.”
