Osaka Combines Japanese And Peruvian Fare In Miami

by

If you've never experienced Nikkei cuisine - a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian fare - you'll soon have your chance when Osaka opens in Miami's Brickell neighborhood.

Originally founded in 2001 by friends and surfers Diego Herrera and Diego de la Puente in Lima, Peru, Osaka will debut its first U.S. location in the coming months. The concept was inspired by the duo's Peruvian roots, travels in Europe and Asia, and passion for the ocean. What began as a pop-up morphed into nine eateries in South America.

Osaka restaurants in Peru are trailblazers of Nikkei, which features such dishes as ceviche and nigiri sushi with Peruvian ingredients and umami flavors. The Miami outpost will share some of the same creative touches as its sister locations, like Japanese-inspired modern architecture and a large ceviche and Nikkei bar at the heart of the restaurant.

The menu at the serene Miami venue will include the likes of Wasabi Ceviche, served with leche de tigre and fresh seafood; omakase (chef's choice) platters; and signature dishes featuring Kobe beef, duck and seafood. Expect some new dishes tailored to the locale as well.

Osaka will be located at 1300 Brickell Bay Drive, Miami. For more information, visit osaka.com.pe.
