Father-Son Open Fort Lauderdale Eatery

by

Fathers and sons have their own special bond — and it often centers around a shared passion that brings them even closer.

For Mitch and Adam Shidlofsky, it’s the restaurant business: They’ve opened their first restaurant together in Fort Lauderdale.

Dubbed Mitch’s Downtown, it is designed to be a contemporary spin on a classic NYC deli (with freshly baked bagels of course). The menu offers breakfast sandwiches, avocado toasts, stuffed French toasts (like the tempting S’mores French Toast — stuffed with marshmallow and chocolate drizzle, topped with cinnamon toast crunch and cinnamon), loaded salads and sandwiches (how about that Big Papa Carnegie Deli Corned Beef and Pastrami topped with 1000 island and coleslaw?).

Father Mitch knows a thing or two about bagels — he owns Mitch’s Westside Bagels in Weston and had six other bagel shops at one point over the past 30 years.

“My dad was hesitant about partnering because, he knew how difficult the restaurant business is. After some discussion, he said ‘if you want to do this, go bake bagels at 4 a.m.’ And the rest is history,” Adam said in a press release.

Mitch’s Downtown is located in Flagler Village at 540 N. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale. For more information, visit mitchsdowntown.com
