From Mexico To Miami

New Restaurant Brings A Little Bit Of Heaven To Brickell

by

The AKA Hotel in the heart of Brickell is now home to Zeru, a 5,400-square-foot restaurant featuring Basque and Mediterranean style cuisine. Zeru comes to the U.S. from south of the border, where there are two other Zeru restaurants in the upscale San Ángel and Lomas de Chapultepec neighborhoods of Mexico City. Zeru means heaven in Basque.

The menu offers Getarian-style seasonal fish options and a variety of Socarrat dishes, as well as Josper-grilled options such as Alaskan King Crab with Saffron and Japanese Kobe Striploin. Complement your meal with one of the expertly curated wines. Not sure what to order? Manager Alejandro Moredia is quite attentive and he and his team will be happy to explain.

“Expert hot coal grilling, the beautiful and simple combination of wood, smoke and flame present since the beginning of gastronomy, is what gives meaning to our cuisine,” says Zeru’s Partner Chef Israel Aretxiga. “We apply the traditional techniques of the Basque asador to the finest ingredients to create a unique gastronomical experience of authentic flavors.”

The restaurant, which serves lunch and dinner, offers both indoor and outdoor seating decked out in earthy materials and a white and blue color palette. A trendy bar leads to an outdoor terrace framed by vegetation.

“Our guests are treated not only to flavorful combinations made with the freshest and finest ingredients, but also a well-orchestrated symphony of intimate, personalized service,” says Moredia. “Combined with an intimate atmosphere, these elements create an alchemy that makes dining at Zeru a relaxed, memorable experience.”
