Life Is Sweet At Fireman Derek’s Bake Shop In Miami

by

Whether you’re hosting a holiday gathering or bringing something as a guest, don’t settle for the same old boring dessert. Why not choose a one-of-a-kind treat that will leave everyone mesmerized?

Head over to Fireman Derek’s Bake Shop in Coconut Grove and Wynwood for holiday specials like Cafecito Pie (aka Cuban Krack Pie), made with an oatmeal crust, a salted caramel filling (infused with Bustelo Espresso) and topped with whipped cream and cinnamon powder. Or go for the Candy Cane Pie: An Oreo crust is layered with chocolate ganache, a minty cheesecake filling and white chocolate chips, topped with crushed and whole candy canes.

Helmed by Derek Kaplan, a Division I college-football-player-turned-firefighter (now retired), this bakery features creative sweets ranging from pies, cakes and brownies to bars, bread puddings and cookies.

Signature pie flavors are Classic Key Lime, with freshly squeezed juice from local limes, and Salty Monkey, a luscious combo of chocolate ganache, white chocolate peanut-butter mousse, bananas and pretzels.

There are savory treats, too, like the Buffalo Chicken Mac-and-Cheese Potpie and empanadas. We recommend hanging out for a bit to enjoy open views of the kitchen.

Fireman Derek’s Bake Shop is located at 2818 N. Miami Ave., Wynwood, and 3435 Main Highway, Coconut Grove. For more information, call 786-703-3623 or 786-502-2396 or visit firemandereks.com.
