That’s Italian

Casa Isola Serves Up The Real Deal In Miami Beach’s Sunset Harbour

by

Luckily for us, Chef Jose Mendin never stops creating.

His latest venture: The authentic Italian Casa Isola, located at Sunset Harbour in Miami Beach.

The eatery is Mendin’s fifth concept in his South Florida restaurant portfolio — others are La Placita in MiMo and Rivertail and The PieFather (a food truck), in Fort Lauderdale.

Casa Isola is a collaboration between Mendin and Brooklyn-born chef Santo Agnello, who created Lucali’s pizzas and will bring his Nonna-inspired creations including a Pane Al Prosciutto, a Brooklyn-style prosciutto bread with parmesan butter and Veal Chop Parmigiana. The Isola Arancini — Taleggio cheese, arborio rice, mozzarella, pecorino, parmesan and ricotta rolled into tidy balls, fried and served over a bright tomato sauce is also a worthy starter.

Mendin’s influence will be seen in bold dish combos like Milanesa Carpaccio with wagyu beef, aged balsamic, black truffle, heirloom tomatoes and the Ravioli Al Funghi with porcini mushrooms and pine nut gremolata.

Libations are plentiful as well and Happy Hour is available Tuesday – Friday from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. with bites including Meatball Parm Sliders.

Casa Isola is located at 1418 20th St., Miami Beach. For more information call 786-558-5787 or visit casaisolamiami.com.
