Calling all Coffee Lovers

If you’re looking for chic, hip coffee shops and cafes like those found in the bustling urban centers of Boston, Miami and New York, you’re in luck.

Boca offers some really great, unique coffee shops just waiting to be discovered. Skip Starbucks next time you’re looking for a caffeine fix and try out one of the below four, locally owned cafes and you might just find your new happy place.

Carmela Coffee

With four locations in sunny South Florida (Parkland, Pompano Beach, Delray Beach and Boca Raton) Carmela Coffee is certainly doing something right. However, whether it’s the elegantly plated meals, aesthetic décor, or studious atmosphere I can’t quite tell. The Boca Raton location is the place to go for FAU and Lynn University students. This café caters to the person who needs an open, sunny environment to sit for hours while tackling last-minute assignments and deadlines.

Come break time, their menu offers nine different types of Avocado Toast, scrumptious paninis and flatbreads flavored with everything from pesto to caramelized onions to balsamic glazes. Though you’ll be coming here for coffee and a place to work, you’re sure to be leaving with a (very) full belly.

The Seed

There’s something people love about being first, and perhaps it’s the fact that The Seed was the first specialty coffee shop and juice bar in Boca that keeps people coming back. Having just opened up its second Boca Raton location, this cozy, friendly spot is growing a deep following throughout the city. Known for the quality of their coffee, ethically sourcing their beans and locally sourcing as many ingredients as possible, you’ll feel good eating and drinking from The Seed knowing you won’t be leaving behind a heavy footprint when it comes time to leave.

A common hang out for the environmentally conscious, clean-eating crowd, The Seed’s atmosphere is authentic, sustainable and centered around a positive customer experience. With so many locally sourced, high-quality ingredients it’s hard to go wrong when ordering off of their craft paper scroll menu, but I recommend the Cold Brew. This beverage goes through a 12-hour concentration process before being filtered, making it an all-time customer favorite.

Living Green

As the name suggests, this café is all about sustainability and healthy eating. My favorite part about the Boca Raton location is the beautiful outdoor seating options. After ordering your espresso, enjoy the ambiance of the outdoor area while relaxing under a picturesque wooden canopy draped in vines and plants. Sit on a low-rise couch or at one of the multiple private tables and enjoy the shade and soft, lo-fi beats while you sip on your coffee. Reminiscent of something you might find in Los Angeles or Tel Aviv, Living Green brings in an urban, hip crowd looking for a cool outdoor atmosphere where they can enjoy their espresso.

MANE Coffee

MANE Coffee was recently recognized by Food & Wine on their “Best Coffee Shops in America” list. With its open lay-out, minimalistic décor and hip menu design, MANE Coffee draws in an artistic, alternative crowd serious about their coffee. The spot for avid journalers, sketch-book artists and book worms, it’s hard not to get the creative juices flowing after stepping foot in the door.

Owned and operated by Boca Raton native Daniel Karram, this is a space enjoyed by those who appreciate atmosphere as much as they appreciate good coffee. Whether the Cold Brew Nitro, Cappuccino or Cortado calls your name, pair it up with one of their six flavors of cookies to make the whole experience that much sweeter.
