FemAle Brew Fest Coming To Gulfstream Park
Event Will Feature Special Collaboration Beer With Pink Boots Society Florida
Anything guys can brew, girls can brew better. Or, at least, that’s the mantra we imagine is behind FemAle Brew Fest – Florida’s only craft beer festival showcasing women in brewing – coming to Pegasus Park at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach March 23. This is the third year of the event.
“FemAle Brew Fest is a craft beer festival for ALL beer lovers (men included) ... the festival is not just about serving beers,” according to a press release. “This beer festival is a platform highlighting and featuring female beer experts and brewsters in the beer industry, offering an opportunity to learn about and taste the different types of beers brewed by them – all while listening to the sounds of our favorite host female DJ La Trice Perry and a growing roster of female solo artists and bands.”
Frances Antonio-Martineau, festival founder and leader of Pink Boots Society Florida (a group for professional female brewers), collaborated with other Pink Boots Members and Red Cypress Brewery in Orlando to create Sick Sad World, a New England IPA that will be featured at the event.
“Red Cypress Head Brewer and Cooperage Queen Amanda Mailey created Sick Sad World using a blend of hops developed by Yakima Chief Hops,” according to a press release. “The special hops blend is part of Pink Boots Society’s Collaboration Brew Day and contains loral, glacier, mosaic, simcoe and saber hops. … This hazy New England Style IPA … promises to deliver a bursting juicy, tropical hop experience with notes of stone fruit and dank.”
Red Cypress Brewery will be one of many breweries returning to participate in the FemAle Brew Fest. Mailey and other female brewers will be onsite to discuss their passion for brewing, experiences in the male-dominated beer industry, and the future of craft brewing and women in the industry.
