One such local business still most definitely exists, albeit in a brand-new location.

Guy La Ferrera, Boca’s premier formal menswear store, is changing locations after 38 years at the Shops at Boca Center. Known for his good taste and quality of clothing, La Ferrera is a master of made-to-measure formal menswear and exclusive Italian custom-fitted casual clothing. Taking after his father, Gaetano La Ferrera Sr., who opened his first tailor shop in Rome in 1946, he and his staff have become known for their unbeatable, high-quality fabrics and top-notch customer service. So well known, in fact, that Esquire featured the shop on their Gold Standard list – a collection of the country’s top 20 men’s specialty stores offering the best in quality, variety and customer service.

The pandemic has ravaged many small businesses in America and La Ferrera is no stranger to this reality. “We made the difficult decision to move to a new location in order to survive the challenges of the pandemic,” La Ferrera explains. Of the move itself, he says “We were fortunate to find a nearby location and were able to recreate our beautiful interior layout in order to serve our amazing, loyal friends and clients who we have been serving for the past 38 years in Boca Raton.”

Besides changing locations, he is also altering his business model to adjust to people’s new lifestyles. When you visit his shop, you’ll find more casual clothing and sportswear to accommodate new work-from-home lifestyles.

La Ferrera beams about the community support he’s received since he made the decision to move. “Everyone is happy with the ease of the location, it’s easy to find and the outpouring of support is really what is giving me the strength and courage to continue during these challenging times,” he explains. “The phone calls from around the country and emails and texts from people has been overwhelming.”

It’s no surprise that La Ferrera has received such an outpour of support. He’s known around the city—and country—for making the shopping experience at his store about much more than the sale itself. “It’s about giving people a product for their lifestyle,” he explains. He prioritizes greeting his customers as they walk through the door and knowing each of their personal stories so that he can best serve them. He says he wants to extend the luxury shopping experience many people find in Philadelphia, Chicago and New York by “dealing with specialized products, prioritizing quality over quantity and understanding how to cater to the different needs of clients.”

As an added bonus of visiting Guy La Ferrera, there’s a beautiful boutique wine shop located inside the store itself. After being fitted for a new sportswear outfit, you might find yourself walking away with a delightful bottle of chardonnay as well!
