Talk about a touchdown!

The Albert Wilson Foundation – founded by Miami Dolphins wide receiver Albert Wilson to enrich the lives of foster children – recently announced its campaign to support the nonprofit HANDY (Helping Abused Neglected Disadvantaged Youth) with crisis relief during the pandemic. The 10-week campaign began on March 30 and will run through June 7. At the halfway point, The Albert Wilson Foundation had provided HANDY youth and caretakers with 550 meals and countless job opportunities in addition to raising more than $10,000 to directly benefit them.

While this is a difficult time for everyone, those in the foster system are especially vulnerable. During the past month, 75 percent of HANDY youth and their caretakers – many of whom were already living paycheck-to-paycheck – lost their jobs.

“COVID-19 has caused an unprecedented and immeasurable amount of hardship and loss throughout the world,” says Jamaal May, executive director of The Albert Wilson Foundation. “[During] May, which is National Foster Care Awareness Month, The Albert Wilson Foundation hopes to shine a light on the often overlooked foster community and will continue to do its part to provide relief and support during these trying times. It is our privilege to support and work in conjunction with HANDY and its great organization during this pandemic.”

To raise additional support and donations for the campaign, Miami influencer YesJulz will co-host Jägermeister's weekly Instagram Live show, Meister Sessions, on May 14 at 8 p.m. Under the #SavetheNight initiative, Jägermeister empowers emerging creatives with income opportunities and supports people and communities in need by raising funds and with direct donations.
