Witches Of Delray Bike Ride Changes Course

Yes, another charity event is changing course due to the pandemic – but the Witches of Delray will ride on regardless!

Throughout October, the 9th Annual Witches of Delray charity bike ride, benefiting the Achievement Centers for Children & Families in Delray Beach, will take a different kind of flight. In lieu of the annual group bike ride, the group will hold various opportunities to “get wicked” both in person and virtually throughout downtown Delray Beach.

Participants can access live and virtual experiences, including a Witches Quiz Ride, Witches Plates & Potions Hospitality Bingo, Best Virtual Cackle and Best Decorated Hat for a $20 donation.

Attendees will also have the chance to win a new bicycle at the Witches Brew, held at Tim Finnegan’s in Delray Beach, with John Brewer of the Delray Beach Socially Distanced Supper Club spinning tunes. Participants will receive a “spell” to unlock all the “Ways to be Wicked with the Witches of Delray” via a private Facebook page after they sign up.

“The Witches’ support is needed more than ever with the impact that COVID-19 has imposed on our community’s children & families,” says Alpha Witch Andie DeVoe, according to a press release. “ACCF has been chosen as the beneficiary for this event for the eighth year in a row and was selected due to its 51-year history of serving the Delray Beach community, along with their ability to pivot services during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide critical educational, health, financial, and food services to local children and their families."

She adds: “This year, we hope you will continue to support our annual Witches of Delray event with all the ways to be wicked! See you in October 2021 when we ride together again!”

At the Achievement Centers for Children & Families, children are involved in early learning (toddler and preschool), after-school, teen and summer camp programs that prepare them for academic and social success and inspire them to discover their talents. Families are served through family strengthening and economic stabilization services that benefit the community by stabilizing families in crisis and supporting them to serve as the foundation of their children’s growth.

The nonprofit serves 900 local children and families each year from three locations in Delray Beach: the Nancy K. Hurd Campus, Village Academy and Pine Grove Elementary.
