Anastasia Leondis Helps Families Work Through Difficult Times

Let’s face it: Parenting is tough. And living in a world filled with intense peer pressure and social media makes it even more difficult.

Anxiety, stress, depression, academic struggles, divorce or even the death of a loved one can have a significant impact on family dynamics.

Anastasia Leondis, MA, LMHC, NCC, a licensed and board-certified mental health counselor, has been working with parents and children for more 23 years, helping them manage conflict and find solutions.

“Parents come in recognizing they need to do something different but aren’t sure what or how,” she says. “Sometimes, they just need someone who can provide them with strategies and techniques that help them navigate the difficult job of parenting.”

After working as a solo practitioner for 12 years, Leondis formed a group practice, Boca Behavioral Health, in October to address a wider range of issues and provide services to more clients seeking help.

“Everyone works together using their unique skills and specialized approach,” says Leondis, who uses Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Interventions to assist her clients.

In Solution Focused Brief Therapy, she and her clients determine the issues that need to be addressed, set a goal and come up with a step-by-step plan to accomplish that goal in a relatively short period of time.

Using Cognitive Behavioral Interventions, Leondis helps clients understand why they act or respond in a certain way and how to change those behaviors.

“We have control over what we think and what we do; so, if we start to think about the problem differently and choose to do something different in response to the problem, then the outcome is different and better, which is the goal,” she says.

In addition to counseling clients, Leondis is a Qualified Supervisor to Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns. She provides supervision and teaches clinical skills to graduate students at Nova Southeastern University.
